The Cavallino Hoard Discovery
An extraordinary discovery has recently been made in rural Essex: the long-sealed workshops of a reclusive Ferrari restorer, untouched for decades. Operating from the same address since the late 1970s, Eddie Walsh ran a specialist Ferrari restoration and parts business dedicated almost exclusively to classic Maranello machinery.
Eddie was a highly talented engineer and an avid motorsport enthusiast. His craftsmanship in bodywork was particularly respected; he was renowned for his ability to fabricate panels and even complete bodies from scratch, skills that earned him quiet but lasting admiration within the Ferrari community.
Opening the doors to the vast workshop for the first time was truly breathtaking. Suspended from the rafters by chains was a right-hand-drive 246 GT. Nearby sat a stalled 330 GTO recreation, frozen mid-build. On the workshop floor rested a beautiful 308 GT/4, while above, on the mezzanine level, lay another 308 GT/4 and a 308 GTS – both partially dismantled and patiently waiting for attention that never came.
Eddie was, by nature, a hoarder. What he left behind is nothing short of remarkable: a vast accumulation of new and used Ferrari parts including engines, gearboxes, body panels, interiors, wheels, and countless rare components. In truth, almost anything one could wish for is here, as Eddie was famously reluctant to part with his spares, preferring instead to squirrel them away for future projects.
Many weeks have now been spent carefully sorting, identifying, and collating this fascinating collection. Tifosi Auctions is delighted to bring these discoveries to market, offering collectors and enthusiasts a rare opportunity to acquire pieces from a truly unique Ferrari legacy. Further details will be announced shortly.
