Inside the Archive: Tracing the Paper Trail of N.A.R.T.’s Racing Operations
The North American Racing Team -N.A.R.T. – was vital to Ferrari’s success in the U.S. It was a critical player in the marque’s international racing footprint during the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s, and boosted Ferrari’s reputation in North America.
Tifosi Auctions is pleased to present a remarkable archival collection that offers a rare glimpse behind the scenes of this storied operation. Compiled across multiple major races, the documents capture the day-to-day detail of how N.A.R.T. prepared, travelled, and competed at the world’s premier endurance events.
The files include a wealth of original material: parts lists, shipping invoices, signed driver waivers, team correspondence, annotated race programmes, lap time sheets, hotel receipts, and payment records. These are practical documents, not created for posterity, which makes them all the more revealing.
Highlights include files from the 1973 Daytona 24 Hours, where N.A.R.T campaigned the 365 GTB/4; numerous Le Mans entries, and extraordinary paperwork from the fabled 1958 Cuban Grand Prix. Adding further dimension to the collection are original period photographs – candid paddock shots, pit lane activity, and team personnel at work – that visually complement the written record.
Rather than a curated retrospective, this is a working archive – an authentic and sometimes raw picture of how Ferrari’s most legendary satellite teams functioned under pressure, often far from home. It is a resource of real historical depth for collectors, researchers, and marque enthusiasts alike.
The archive will be auctioned in the Autumn Auction on September 21 as lots 131 – 143.
